Davin’s last kick-in of the season!

Ready for takeoff! The boys did extremely well on the plane despite the small emergency we had. On the 2nd flight out there we made an emergency landing in Tennessee going from Dallas to Norfolk. The flight crew could smell smoke on the back of the plane near the engines and the pilot came on and said ‘I’m sure you noticed me making a right turn and that we are going down…’. He was not messing around. Jeremiah said ‘Someone should tell him this isn’t a helicopter!” Davin woke up from all the turbulence and seemed fine with it. He was even more pleased to see our welcoming commitee; abut 10 ambulances and firetrucks surrounding the runway. It was definitely a little scary especially since Jeremiah was at the back of the plane getting ready to change Brendin’s diaper when they announced the emergency landing. We had to sit on the runway while they checked out the plane since they don’t really want a plane that’s on fire near the terminal. When we got on the ground Davin said “Do we get to use the slides?!” The guy behind us said “I wanted to use the slide too!”. There was another American Airlines flight overnighting there so it really wasn’t too long of a wait before we got boarded onto the other plane. About 5 people came up to us and told us we had the best behaved kids in the world. One lady said “My Grandkids wouldn’t have lasted as long as they did!” The captains always said hi to Davin and he liked the fact that he could see the light for the seatbelt sign and know when he had to be buckled in.

We made it to our beach house…just in time for the sunrise! It was a long night but with the boys not making a peep on the plane it wasn’t that bad at all.

Ouch!

Playing on the beach next to our beach house. Davin dug a hole for Aunt Dede to stand in. Davin and Daddy are flying a kite. There was a nice stiff breeze for it!

The pool and hottub at our house. The pool wasn’t heated but it was still nice to watch Jeremiah swim in!

At the Hatteras light house. This is a huge lighthouse and it was actually moved from another location due to rising waters.

Playing miniature golf. Davin picked the Pirate ship golf course over the dinosaur course.

At the beautiful NC Aquarium. If you notice the turtle is posing, for a while we thought it was a statue but then he moved a tiny bit!

Touching the stingrays and starfish

Brendin on the surfboard while Daddy was out getting a lesson

More Wacky Brend-O hair!

Fishing on the Pier with Grandpa

GRAVE DIGGER!!! We stopped at Grave Digger’s house since Davin loves monster trucks. We also saw Monster Mutt and the Air Force monster truck in the shop.

We stayed one full day in VA before we flew out and went to Busch Gardens. Davin had so much fun. There were a ton of rides for him to ride on. The Battering Ram was the best, he wasn’t sure what to do when his stomach started turning. Amazingly he wanted to go on it again.

They had a little carnival set up on the boardwalk in Virginia Beach. I have no idea how, after a full 7 hours at Busch Gardens, Davin wanted to ride on one more ride. The weather was beautiful that night.

We had some time before the plane took off so we went to the Botanical Gardens. We went there when Davin was just a few months old. I can’t believe how beautiful it is. Some of it was closed off due to nesting eagles but they had viewing stations so we were able to see them.

Eating snacks in the airport. The flights were good on the way back. They slept the entire second flight even though it was delayed about an hour. We got hom a little after midnight. Rachel and Drew were already at our house so they drove the van to pick us up. Then they stayed with us for a few days and left early this morning. I’ll post some pictures from their visit in a few days. I think I have enough up for this post!

We had a great trip. Our vacation house was beautiful and huge. It was brand new and had everything we needed. We all got to have our own room. It definitely beat staying in a hotel. Plus watching sunrises and sunsets from the decks were so nice. We’re planning to go to Hawaii the end of July and can’t wait to swim in the warm ocean after the frigid water in the Outer Banks.

PS Congratulations Ed & Sarah
